New Book Coming!
I’m thrilled that my second memoir–tentatively titled In My Grandmother’s Shadow—will be out late this summer. This has been a writing project dear to my heart, delayed by health issues, travel, and other factors. Finally, it’s complete and I’ve signed a contract with the good folks at Sunbury Press for publication.
In My Grandmother’s Shadow was inspired by my grandmother, Filomena Altieri, telling me that she came to America with a stranger—that she had been kidnapped. Her story haunted me for many years until I finally decided to explore the circumstances surrounding her immigration.
My journey took me to a small village in the Puglia region of Southern Italy, where I found my ancestral home. The book is part mystery, part genealogy, and part travelogue, sharing sights and food. Oh, yes! Lots of yummy Italian food.
